Woke Culture
Woke culture has gone far beyond the original meaning of modern enlightenment envisioning a racially equitable society. It has become a by-word for people who condemn others who do not buy into their white supremacy narrative. The Left has become a Marxist, Hitler alluding monstrosity that tries to alienate the Conservative view by labeling it racist and hate driven. The complete opposite is true.
While the Conservative Movement has its fair share of racist, hate mongers; it is still predominantly filled with people who truly care about, and desire, a racially neutral country. The flames fanned by the George Floyd, Antifa developed narrative are only growing stronger as the Marxist, Elitists in Washington, New York, California, and elsewhere in our present plutocracy that is further dividing America continue to assault free-speech and our Constitutional liberties.
Before meandering down this path, I am not in any way condoning the actions of Derek Chauvin and his gang. While I am an “innocent until proven guilty” sort of person, on its face, the events of May 25, 2020, are deplorable from any racial perspective. Is it evidence of systemic racism? No. These were either the acts of a premeditated killer based on some yet known motives or are the results of a specific Police force that did not adequately vet, or train, its members. Are there similar Police forces around the country? Yes. It is the responsibility of every Mayor and Police Chief in the nation to evaluate its public safety systems and ensure this type of behavior is eliminated.
On the other side of the coin, Police personnel on the streets are faced with a unique danger every single day. One of their primary duties is to confront people who are endangering the Public. What would our society be like if every single person who thwarted laws, and used violence, was ignored. What if they acted without intervention? Imagine the number of deaths and severe bodily injury arising from these events.
Police are confronted with a difficult choice between standing down and standing up. It is cases involving mental health issues and drugs that are the most challenging. Police must define and utilize non-lethal tactics in these cases even then they will, at time, inadvertently cause severe injuries or death if the situation becomes extreme. There are numerous cases where this is the case. Additionally, “suicide by police” is prevalent, though this is a variant case of mental health related issues.
The Woke Culture was well on its way before the death of George Floyd. Woke Culturalists merely used the Floyd death to pour gasoline on the fire. They ignited, at the behest of their Leftist overlords, a deeper and broader chasm in the cultural divide, and instigated a new definition of racial injustice. Merriam-Webster even revised its “official” definition of racism as follows:
(Peter Sokolowski, an editor at large at Merriam-Webster, told CNN that their entry also defines racism as) “a doctrine or political program based on the assumption of racism and designed to execute its principles” and “a political or social system founded on racism,” which would cover systematic racism and oppression.
If we take CNN’s and now, Merriam-Webster’s word for it, at least their allusion to it, America was founded on racism. By pandering to Woke Culture’s insidious claim that anyone not “Woke”, e.g., “not black”, or more specifically “white”, the Woke agenda can saunter down the path of social inequality and injustice just by mentioning race. The long-held idea that racism was broadly defined by any concept whereby a race inures to itself a special position in society is history. This newfound definition now defines racism as a highly specific rendition of white-on-black hatred and accrues to the Black community all forms of economic advantage including a prevailing view that blacks are entitled to compensation for social incongruities from two centuries ago.
To debunk this idea of elitist thought merely by claiming it does not, nor ever has existed, it is necessary for a more rational and level-headed counter-current to voice its arguments. This is extremely difficult given the prevailing mindset that facts and truths are not debatable within the broad social bandwidth. The truth is whatever you think. According to Lester Holt, a “respected” journalist, it is not necessary to look at both sides of issues:
[on March 30th, after being awarded the Edward R. Murrow Award for Lifetime Achievement in Journalism, Lester Holt declared in his acceptance speech that “that fairness is overrated”]
“Before you run off and tweet that headline, let me explain a bit,” Holt continued. “The idea that we should always give two sides equal weight and merit does not reflect the world we find ourselves in. That the sun sets in the west is a fact. Any contrary view does not deserve our time or attention.” (1)
You would think a journalist could discern between facts that are irrefutable according to an obvious reality and those denoted by a vociferus, though incompletely informed majority. Holt’s complete unwillingness to even consider “facts” that are contrary to one’s established views demonstrates the utter lack of political discourse.
Today, “facts” are not defined necessarily by their veracity, but by their provability and acceptance. These are not facts but assertions that have no value unless they are able to persuade the broadest public opinion. In today’s 50-50 propagandized world, the sun setting in the west may be the only true knowledge, though that too is probably open for debate in a CNN-NBC infoverse.
